Sometimes a small seed can change a life.

It started with a book.

I was reading a book written by a friend of mine called Searching for Moses. In the opening chapters, he writes about young people who had caring adults, mentors, and people trying to guide them, but who still made choices that eventually led them down some very difficult roads.

It got me thinking.

We can share truth. We can show love. We can remind people that they matter. And God’s Word has the power to change lives.

I know that because it has changed mine.

What if a child heard one simple truth?

Our church has a backpack ministry that provides food each week for about 100 children.

As I thought about those children, I began wondering what else we might place in those food bags.

Not another complicated message. Not something that talked down to them. Just one simple reminder:

We may never know what is happening in the life of the child who receives it.

Maybe everything is going well. Maybe home is difficult. Maybe that child feels alone. Maybe years from now, he or she will remember one simple truth someone cared enough to share:

You are forever loved.

Then the idea grew.

For years, Memory Cross has created unusual origami-style cards that unfold continuously. Many tell Bible stories or explain the Gospel, and churches and individuals use them for Sunday school, missions, outreach, Halloween, and many other ministries.

Nearly a million Memory Cross cards are handed out each year.

While working on our Halloween Gospel tracts, another thought came to me: why not create a card that was not tied to one particular event?

A card someone could give to a child, teenager, friend, stranger, or anyone who might need encouragement, with one simple message:

That card was created.

But then I realized something else.

A small card can only say so much.

If someone received it and wanted to know more, where could we send them?

My prayer for this website.

I do not pretend that a website can answer every question someone has about life or God.

It cannot.

But it can plant a seed.

My prayer is that if you arrived here because you are hurting, searching, questioning, lonely, afraid, or simply wondering whether there is more to life, something here will help point you toward Jesus.

Because ultimately this website is not about a card.

It is not about Memory Cross.

And it is not about me.

One small card can matter.

It is a reminder that we rarely know what God may do with something that seems small.
