Growing With God
You are loved by God. Now let’s learn how to grow closer to Him.
Following Jesus is an adventure that lasts your whole life. You don’t have to know everything today. You can start with a few simple steps.
God wants you to know Him, talk with Him, learn from His Word and show His love to other people.
Here are five simple ways to start.
Learn About Jesus
The more you know Jesus, the more you will understand how much God loves you.
Jesus came to show us what God is like.
He loved people. He helped people. He forgave people. He taught people about God, and He showed us how God wants us to live.
One fun way to learn more is through Superbook. Superbook has animated Bible adventures made especially for kids.
You’ll find stories about Jesus, Moses, David, Daniel and many other people in the Bible.

“What did this story teach me about God?”
Read God’s Word
The Bible helps us learn who God is and how He wants us to live.
The Bible is a big book, so don’t worry if you don’t understand everything you read.
Start with Bible stories and the parts that tell us about Jesus.
If you’re ready to read directly from the Bible, you might begin with Mark, Luke or John.
Even reading a little bit each day can help you understand God’s story and grow closer to Him.
Bible App for Kids
If you’re younger or just getting started with the Bible, the YouVersion Bible App for Kids is a fun way to begin exploring God’s Word.
Made especially for kids ages 4–8 and their families, it includes narrated and animated Bible stories, interactive scenes, questions, games and activities.
You can tap through the stories, explore what’s happening and have fun while learning about God and the Bible.
Best of all, it’s completely free.

If you have your own phone or tablet, you can take God’s Word with you wherever you go.
The YouVersion Bible App puts the complete Bible right on your device—and it’s free.
You can read or listen to the Bible, highlight and bookmark verses, make notes and follow Bible reading plans that can help you spend time with God.
You can also compare different Bible versions. That can be especially helpful when you come across a verse that’s difficult to understand.
The important thing isn’t how much you read. Start with a little and make spending time in God’s Word part of your day.
PUT THE BIBLE ON YOUR PHONE OR TABLET →A Simple Bible Habit
Read one Bible story or a short part of the Bible each day.
Then ask:
What does this teach me about God?
and
Is there something God wants me to do?
Talk to God
Prayer is simply talking with God.
You don’t need special words.
You can talk to God anywhere—at home, at school, in the car, before you go to sleep or when you’re worried.
You can tell God:
- What you’re thankful for.
- What you’re worried about.
- When you’ve done something wrong.
- Who you would like God to help.
- What you don’t understand.
- What you need help with today.
You Can Pray Something Like This
“God, thank You for loving me. Help me learn more about You. Help me make good choices and show Your love to other people. Please help me with the things I’m worried about today. Amen.”
Live Like Jesus
Following Jesus changes the way we treat people.
You don’t have to wait until you’re an adult to make a difference.
You can show God’s love right now.
- Be kind to someone who feels left out.
- Forgive someone who hurt your feelings.
- Tell the truth even when it’s hard.
- Help someone without being asked.
- Pray for a friend.
- Share what you have.
- Encourage someone who is having a bad day.
- Tell someone that God loves them.
Your Challenge
Each morning, ask:
“God, who can I show Your love to today?”
Then pay attention. You may be surprised by the opportunity God gives you.
Don’t Do It Alone
God gives us other people to help us grow.
If you want to learn more about Jesus, talk with a grown-up you trust.
That might be:
- Your mom or dad.
- A grandparent.
- Your children’s pastor.
- Your Sunday school teacher.
- Another trusted Christian adult.
Tell them you’re learning about Jesus and ask them to help you.
Going to church is also a great way to meet other kids and adults who are learning to follow Jesus.
You were never meant to grow in your faith all by yourself.
