God has a purpose for your life.

You do not have to have your whole life figured out. Nobody does!

God made you special. He gave you things you are good at, people you can care about, and a whole life ahead of you.

God wants to help you grow, make good choices, love other people, and become the person He created you to be.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord… “plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11

What does God want from us?

People asked Jesus this question too.

Jesus made the answer pretty simple.

Love God.

Talk to Him. Trust Him. Learn about Him. And try to live the way He teaches us to live.

☺

Love people.

Be kind. Forgive. Help people. Include people who feel left out. Care when someone is hurting.

Love God. Love people.
That’s a pretty good way to live.

Can I really know God?

Yes.

God does not just want you to know things about Him. He wants you to know Him.

The Bible tells us that all of us do things that are wrong. Sometimes we hurt people. Sometimes we are selfish. Sometimes we know the right thing to do and choose not to do it.

The Bible calls that sin.

But God loves us so much that He sent Jesus. Jesus died for our sins and rose again so that we could be forgiven and have a relationship with God.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son…” — John 3:16

You can talk to God.

You do not need fancy words.

You can talk to God honestly, just like you would talk to someone who loves you.

If you want to know Jesus and follow Him, you could say something like this:

God, thank You for loving me.

I know I do things that are wrong. Please forgive me.

Thank You for sending Jesus for me.

Help me know You, follow Jesus, and live the way You want me to live.

Amen.

There aren’t magic words you have to say. What matters is that you really mean what you are saying to God.

Tell Him about your day, your worries, your questions and the things you’re thankful for.

Read about Jesus

Ask an adult you trust to help you find the Gospel of John in the Bible. It’s a great place to start.

Ask questions

Talk with your parents, grandparents, pastor, Sunday school teacher, or another trusted Christian adult.

Love people

Look for someone you can encourage, help, forgive or be kind to today.

One more reminder that God loves you.

And one more important thing…

If something is happening in your life that scares you, hurts you, or makes you feel unsafe, please tell an adult you trust.

That might be a parent, grandparent, teacher, pastor, coach, or another adult who cares about you.

You do not have to handle scary things by yourself.
